The dream team.
East Olivia x Heather Meyer
Why am I a great fit for East Olivia?
I've been on a journey to find the next step in my career that would allow me to work in a tactile, creative, and collaborative way. I believe that working with East Olivia would be exactly the kind of career pivot I’ve been seeking, and because of that I know I will bring more motivation and commitment to learn than any other candidate. I’m dedicated to supporting a firm where I can be part of building beautiful projects from the ground up.
My relevant background is a blend of experiential visual design and boots-on-the-ground construction. I worked on the visual merchandising and design teams at Macy’s and STORY, where I collaborated on immersive retail installations that blended narrative, function, and design. See some media coverage for a few of the designs I helped build in the first gallery below.
During the early days of the pandemic, I relocated from LA to upstate NY and built an off-grid tiny house almost entirely on my own, with no prior building experience, and using mostly found materials. I learned how to frame, use a variety of tools, how to problem-solve, and the deeply satisfying grit of construction work. It was through this experience that I came to realize just how much I love building with my own hands and I've been searching for my next project ever since. See some pictures of that tiny house in the second gallery below.
Though I am new to florals specifically, I’ve always been dedicated to having florals around the house and have picked up a lot of care and design tips as an at home novice over the years. I’m a quick study and highly motivated to learn. I thrive in environments that challenge me physically and creatively, and I’m excited about the chance to contribute to your projects, whether that’s in the shop filling orders, on-site event fabrication, or supporting with client communications (I have many years of high end customer service experience).
